BRUMBIES & THE ABC

 Monday, April 15, 2024:

There's a saying in business, "Any publicity is good publicity" meaning that it is always preferable to have attention focused on - in this case a cause - than to be unnoticed and that is exactly how we feel about the recent ABC Media Watch segment.

You can watch the 4 minute video here.

As you may or may not know, we don't always see eye to eye with Ray Hadley of 2GB but we certainly love all he has to say about the ongoing massacre of Brumbies in the Kosciuszko National Park -- and we also love that ABC Media Watch shared a bit of what Ray has to say about it...

Media Watch:  New South Wales Parks and Wildlife say brumby numbers in the Kosciuszko National Park are once again out of control, and there are now up to 24,000 horses running wild.

A claim that 2GB’s Ray Hadley dismisses bluntly:

RAY HADLEY: Pig’s Bum! There are not …

The fact is, they don’t know how many are there.

- Mornings with Ray Hadley, 2GB, 20 March, 2024

Media Watch then went on to try and vilify a high-profile journalist...

And among those most concerned is one high-profile journalist, who, for several months, has been posting comments like these on pro-brumby Facebook pages:

[NOTE: FREE PUBLICITY FOR PRO BRUMBY ADVOCATES SILVER SPRINGS EQUINE 2024 INC.  Thanks ABC Media Watch.]

The program goes on to show another pro brumby advocacy group, STOP NPWS FROM LOCKING US OUT OF KOSCIUSZKO.  Again, thank you ABC Media Watch for helping that group gain attention and followers too.

DON'T BLAME IT ON THE BRUMBIES ALSO RECEIVED SOME FREE PUBLICITY...

The story continued..

A long time ABC court reporter and newsreader who, only last week, was presenting this story about the brumby cull:

JAMELLE WELLS: An enquiry has heard horses are being shot up to 18 times and farmers claim they’ve found injured horses taking days to die and orphaned foals.

- Midday News, ABC Radio Sydney, 8 April, 2024

THANK YOU Janelle Wells for not being afraid to help Brumby advocates with how to speak for those who can't speak for themselves.

Nothing you stated by way of hints is anything that was new to us here at Brumby Facts.  You would NOT be criticized for any of the basic tips you provided if you were speaking at a college or university to journalist students - or even to high school students.  You'd be praised.

We also thank you for not being afraid to stand up for what you believe in, for not being afraid to criticize fellow journalists.  We hope that by doing so you have not jeopardized your job.

Thank you ABC Media Watch for even including a clip from a recent broadcast reminding us about testimony highlighting the horrible, inhumane deaths Brumbies are enduring.

We appreciate Media Watch for helping to raise awareness about a cause that is near and dear to our hearts!

YOU CAN HELP STOP THIS BARBARIC INHUMANE SLAUGHTER

A wild horse has the same capacity to feel pain and fear as a native animal, and their lives deserve the same level of dignity and respect.

We need to find a way to protect the native animals at risk, without hunting down Brumbies with helicopters, ground shooting or hauling them to be slaughtered at knackeries.

We urge you to join us in demanding the NSW government stop this cruel cull and adopt humane, non-lethal solutions.

1. Contact the PM & the MPs responsible:  Make your voice heard!  Demand an end to your tax dollars being used to massacre Brumbies.

2. Sign this petition:  Show the government the overwhelming public opposition to this barbaric practice.  BUT hurry before it's too late.

3. Contact the RSPCA NSW: Wild horses are suffering under RSPCA NSW inaction.  Take a stand.  Add your voice - fill out a quick form and urge others to join you.

4. Donate:  We are a volunteer-run organization relying on your support to end this cruelty.  Every donation -- no matter what size -- gets us closer to our goal.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Michelle and Ian Brown of Snowy Brumby Photography Adventures for generously allowing us to use their stunning photographs of Brumbies on our website.  NOTE:  The copyrighted photos are used with their express written consent.
