THE MASSACRE BEGAN BEFORE AN ACCURATE COUNT…

It’s important to note that a government mandate stipulates 3,000 horses are to remain in the KNP – yet before this massacre started —  expert biostatisticians stated the number of horses the government claims are in the park are wildly inflated.

In October 2023, the NSW government’s “distance sampling” method yielded a startling range of 12,797 to 21,760 wild horses in Kosciuszko National Park.

This immense discrepancy raises serious questions about the data’s validity and the justification for the current cull.

Would such a vast margin of error be tolerated in other scientific fields?

Wouldn’t the researchers be ridiculed for such uncertainty?

This lack of precision casts a shadow over the entire population count and the cull’s legitimacy.

Without an accurate starting count this slaughtering of wild horses has the possibility of being a senseless eradication of a living legacy.

BRUMBY MASSACRE BASED ON FLAWED NUMBERS

In the video above, Claire Galea, and independent biostatistician with 25 years experience, explains how the cutrrent “cull” is based on numbers that are inaccurate.

Within 5 minutes you’ll see just how flawed.

The designer (University of St Andrews) of the software — that was used to come up with the extreme numbers of wild horses — refused to peer review Stuart Cairns’ numbers.

Again, the cruel and inhumane cull CURRENTLY HAPPENING AND ABOUT TO ACCELERATE IS  based on flawed counts of wild horses in the KNP.

The Government of NSW, Australia is using population numbers provided by Stuart Cairns who found in his 2019 survey between 12,797 and 21,760 horses.

Well, we’d like to know what is it?

Is it 12,797 or 22,760?

We’re sure you’d agree that’s a very big spread which makes not only us — but also the University of St Andrews question the accuracy of his counts.

As a matter of fact, the University of St Andrews, who developed the software used in the 2019 survey by Cairns refused to peer review his research.

The reason?

Because Cairns claimed the population of wild horses in the park grew by 41% in a 5 year period.

The University knew that was impossible because it would have meant that each mare would have foaled at least 7 foals in a year. Of course as most people know the gestation period for a horse is 11 months and wild horses generally only have 1 foal every other year.

AND according to…

The Centre for Invasive Species Solutions even fewer!

Feral horses breed in spring to summer and have a gestation period of about 11 months. They can produce one foal a year, but they typically produce 2 every 3 years.”

So, again the Cairns’ claim that the population of horses in the park grew by 41% in a 5-year period is outrageous – yet those population count numbers are the ones being used by the Government of New South Wales.

YOU CAN HELP STOP THIS BARBARIC INHUMANE SLAUGHTER

A wild horse has the same capacity to feel pain and fear as a native animal, and their lives deserve the same level of dignity and respect.

We need to find a way to protect the native animals at risk, without hunting down Brumbies with helicopters, ground shooting or hauling them to be slaughtered at knackeries.

We urge you to join us in demanding the NSW government stop this cruel cull and adopt humane, non-lethal solutions.

1. Contact the PM & the MPs responsible:  Make your voice heard!  Demand an end to your tax dollars being used to massacre Brumbies.

2. Sign this petition:  Show the government the overwhelming public opposition to this barbaric practice.  BUT hurry before it's too late.

3. Contact the RSPCA NSW: Wild horses are suffering under RSPCA NSW inaction.  Take a stand.  Add your voice - fill out a quick form and urge others to join you.

4. Donate:  We are a volunteer-run organization relying on your support to end this cruelty.  Every donation -- no matter what size -- gets us closer to our goal.

INHUMANE DEATHS

Over 534 WILD HORSES, including foals, have been shot from helicopters in Kosciuszko National Park, NSW, Australia in just 15 DAYS. And yes, even BABIES are being massacred from helicopters. DEATHS ARE NOT INSTANTANEOUS. That horrific number doesn’t include over 300...
