MORE THAN 500 HORSES FOUND DEAD AT ILLEGAL KNACKERY
An investigation is under way after reports alleging horses had been butchered at a private property near the NSW regional city.
The animals were discovered after Wagga Wagga city council and New South Wales police received reports alleging that horses had been butchered at a private property near the regional city and their remains left in a dry creek bed.
Officers from the council, supported by members of NSW police, entered the property on 5 March with a view to investigating potential offences under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act, which relates to the disposal of animal carcasses.
“Once the inspection of the property commenced it became clear that the slaughtering of horses had been occurring for a long period of time,” the council said in a statement.
DPI said it’s also considering livestock traceability offences under the biosecurity act, and said backyard meat businesses pose food safety risk, impact the national livestock identification system and “compete with legitimate meat businesses”.
PROPERTY OPERATOR NAMED
Wagga Wagga horse trader Adrian Talbot says carcasses found on property were killed to feed his dogs.
[The team at Brumby Facts .org writes: Keep going and be sure to listen to what Wes Fang and Ray Hadley have to say below … officials are now stating that over 200 of the dead horses found on the property are Brumbies that were meant to be re-homed by Adrian Talbot.]
On Wednesday, Wagga Wagga City Council revealed it was leading a joint investigation into the discovery of more than 500 horse carcasses on a property near the city.
TRANSPARENCY ISSUES: AERIAL CULL & REHOMING
While we often disagree with Ray Hadley, we find common ground on the issue of the massacre of wild horses known as Brumbies in Kosciuszko National Park (KNP).
Wes Fang, NSW upper house member, discusses concerns over the illegal slaughter of brumbies and calls for a deeper public inquiry.

YOU CAN HELP STOP THIS BARBARIC INHUMANE SLAUGHTER
A wild horse has the same capacity to feel pain and fear as a native animal, and their lives deserve the same level of dignity and respect.
We need to find a way to protect the native animals at risk, without hunting down Brumbies with helicopters, ground shooting or hauling them to be slaughtered at knackeries.
We urge you to join us in demanding the NSW government stop this cruel cull and adopt humane, non-lethal solutions.
1. Contact the PM & the MPs responsible: Make your voice heard! Demand an end to your tax dollars being used to massacre Brumbies.
2. Sign this petition: Show the government the overwhelming public opposition to this barbaric practice. BUT hurry before it's too late.
3. Contact the RSPCA NSW: Wild horses are suffering under RSPCA NSW inaction. Take a stand. Add your voice - fill out a quick form and urge others to join you.
