A LOVE LETTER TO THE BRUMBIES

Words cannot describe how much we loved you;
Your sweet, inquisitive faces; sculpted ears and velvet noses;
Graceful curves and gleaming coats;
Your magnificent presence; your loyal and loving nature.
Words are not enough.

How can we tell you how hard we fought to save you?
To expose the flawed science and hideous untruths;
To make the blind see; the ignorant understand;
Move hearts of stone: to appreciate your beauty and your worth?
But words were not enough.

Gentle and good, you had no ego, you didn’t understand
How, every time we built you a fortress, Ego tore it down.
How Evil stood and gloated as your blood seeped into the ground.
We fought our hardest to save you,
But nothing was enough.

You were the collateral damage in someone else’s war;
The innocent victims of stupidity and greed;
Of lies that were spread to justify the unjustifiable.
How do we express the grief we feel at your passing:
The senseless destruction of your beauty?
Words are not enough.

How do we tell you how much you meant to us?
How your spirits will gallop over your beloved high country,
Forever wild and free. How those who come may catch a glimpse
Of a shimmering phantom; the sound of a ghostly hoofbeat;
The flick of a silvery tail. And stand in awe of your glory.
Words are not enough.

You lived in harmony with your environment for almost 200 years
Until you were demonised, blamed, defamed;
Destroyed on the whim of environmental vandals.
How do we tell you how much we loved you?
How do we tell you how broken our hearts?
Words are not enough.

Lynn Newberry
5th October 2023

The team at Brumby Facts would like to take a moment to publicly thank Lynn Newberry for all she does for so many – including tirelessly advocating to protect Australia’s wild heritage horses AKA Brumbies.

Lynn your help with bringing everyone on the team up to speed with all that has happened with Brumbies during the last 20 plus years is invaluable.  We don’t know where we’d be without you.

YOU CAN HELP STOP THIS BARBARIC INHUMANE SLAUGHTER

A wild horse has the same capacity to feel pain and fear as a native animal, and their lives deserve the same level of dignity and respect.

We need to find a way to protect the native animals at risk, without hunting down Brumbies with helicopters, ground shooting or hauling them to be slaughtered at knackeries.

We urge you to join us in demanding the NSW government stop this cruel cull and adopt humane, non-lethal solutions.

1. Contact the PM & the MPs responsible:  Make your voice heard!  Demand an end to your tax dollars being used to massacre Brumbies.

2. Sign this petition:  Show the government the overwhelming public opposition to this barbaric practice.  BUT hurry before it's too late.

3. Contact the RSPCA NSW: Wild horses are suffering under RSPCA NSW inaction.  Take a stand.  Add your voice - fill out a quick form and urge others to join you.

4. Donate:  We are a volunteer-run organization relying on your support to end this cruelty.  Every donation -- no matter what size -- gets us closer to our goal.
